Kelly (from Naresh’s “yogis” series)

This picture thing is an interesting process for me. When I look at the pics, the first thing i see is ‘what’s wrong with me’–misalignment, too short of stance, shoulders…….blah, blah, blah. When I practice at the studio or at home I’m certainly not that critical, in fact I feel solid and connected.
As for yoga, it’s not easy to narrow down the benefits i experience from my practice or how yoga works in my life. Yoga has a positive and profound impact on all aspects of my life–physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
It occurred to me during class that yoga brings me back to earth and connects me to the ground. I can be a whirlwind of stress, chaos, and busyness–ten steps ahead of the present moment. When I’m planted here firmly, I experience peace. I’m more thoughtful in my speech and actions, I move with ease. Another gift I receive from my practice is the ability to tune into my body. Yoga has taught me to hear the subtleties and trust the wisdom I receive.
